Transposes Character Page: "Adam"

comics index next comic

This is the character information page for "Adam," one of the queer-identified FTMs profiled in Transposes, the graphic book I'm working on for Beacon Press. You can read some of the work-in-progress storyboards and penciled pages from Adam's chapter here.

Promo Materials

This is a piece I created for the PRISM Comics booth at SDCC. It ended up getting cropped by quite a bit (the dimension specs had to be changed at the last minute), so here's what the full artwork looked like. For the curious, this is post-T Adam dressed as Fred Astaire from Funny Face, as per one of the musicals posters from his apartment walls.

Character Designs

This is "Adam" at various stages in his life: after several years on testosterone (T), after deciding to transition but before starting T, etc. Adam identifies exclusively as a gay man, and is in a long-term relationship with a cis gay man.

Before Adam was Adam he was Anna. Anna spent a little while trying really hard to be a "normal" woman. This didn't work out so well, and Anna frequently felt like a "failed girl."

Then Anna spent a little while trying to be a butch bisexual. This worked slightly better but still wasn't quite right.

This is "Justin," Adam's life partner.
