Another remastered Politically InQueerect cartoon is posted for you on Tapastic. I think this one more or less tells you everything you need to know about these two.
Bonus fun fact: I originally created this as a small set of submissions to the New Yorker, which means somewhere or other I have a rejection letter from the New Yorker.
I’m not even sure people talk about A and B personality types anymore, but it was kind of a thing for awhile.

The latest Politically InQueerect is up on Tapastic! This is another of those situations were you learn something new about your characters when you color an old comic. Like, I don’t think either of them can possibly be happy with that mustard color on the walls, but Archer was adamant about only decorating with earth tones, and Todd’s just passive-aggressive enough to pick something awful on purpose. For the rest of the comic, though, he is definitely not passive in his aggressiveness.
In other news, I have a brand new comic in the works, a little autobio one-pager. I’m thinking I’ll probably post it this weekend, maybe? We’ll see how the ol’ schedule goes. It’s all penciled, just needs inks and colors. And I can’t decide if I want to try digitally coloring it, or just going with the ancient hand-coloring methods. File under Artist Problems (oh, I’ve got them).

Dee’s and Alicia’s hot chat session of non-stop processing comes to a close in the EXCITING CONCLUSION to our current Politically InQueerect storyline. Bonus points if you can spot the reference to the Austin club scene.

Again, this version of the story differs rather a lot (at least as far as the text goes) from the old version hosted here. It’s better now, I think. But I dunno. I don’t expect to go back and rework anything that much ever again – better just to move on to new stuff. Not like I didn’t already know that, but here we are.
After this I think it’ll be back to one-pagers for a bit while I sort out what makes the most sense, chronologically speaking.

The penultimate page of the current Politically InQueerect storyline is up! Dee has her revenge, and moves on to her next target.
Check in later this week, when I’ll post a new cartoon I drew about Herman Melville’s unrequited love for Nathaniel Hawthorne. (Yes, this is a real thing that happened, but more on that later.)
Trying to think if there are any other goings on I need to tell you about. There’s stuff in progress for sure, I just don’t have much to say at the moment other than “in progress.” So! Anyway. See you in a couple of days for Melville/Hawthorne.

Thanks to everyone who backed the QU33R Kickstarter! We are funded and going to press, oh yes. I don’t know a release date yet, but once I do I will obvs let you know all about it.
I haven’t got much else for ya at the moment, though I’m hoping to have more funs on the ol’ site for next week. Funs as in more dirty pitchers of Cecil and Carlos, ahem, cough.

The latest Politically InQueerect is up on Tapastic. Now we get to find out what Dee’s high school experience was like. Guessing she read a lot of Sandman and listened to a lot of Siouxsie (no, wait, I don’t have to guess).
And, just in case you missed it, I started a new Tumblr blog for my queer comics and art stuff. Follow along if you’re into that sort of thing (and you are or you wouldn’t be here, right?).
Also also, the Kickstarter for QU33R has been successfully funded, but you still have a couple of days to pre-order your copy of the book and snag some of the fun extras. So get on that if you ain’t already.
Finally, I’m sorry to say I WON’T be making an official appearance at Bent-Con as I have a schedule conflict. Which is too bad, because it sounds like it’s going to be an awesome show. And it’s this weekend! So if you’re in SoCal, do make a point to check it out. As for me, I’ll be at Designer Con, which is right next door in Pasadena, CA. It’s an indie toy/design show, and I’ll be there representin’ the Feeps. Heck, go to both shows. Why not.

Also, just in case you missed it, I started a new tumblr for my comics and art stuffs. In addition to the sorts of things you’d read about here (new comics postings, show information, etc.), I’ll also be using the tumblr to post random art of mine like sketches and whatnot. AND, I will occasionally post examples from my collection of old, obscure, out-of-print comics of yore … things I think might be interesting or relevant to people who follow what I do.

Starting today on Tapastic, I’ll be running the 8-page story of Dee and Alicia’s interactions since their initial meeting. “High School Sucked for You, Too?!” is, as with previous episodes, colorized from its original black and white. In addition, I’m also heavily revising a lot of the text, mostly because I was never totally happy with it in the first place. So this is one that, if you’ve already read it, you may wish to follow along and read it again.
In other news, I’m still working away on my story for Beyond, the frabjuous queer sci-fi/fantasy anthology that will be coming out next year. I have the first draft of my script done, though I already know several changes I’m going to make, and I’ve been whittling away at character designs and concept art. The story itself is exclusive to the book, so you’ll have to wait until it’s released to read the whole thing, but I will be posting teasers here periodically, so keep checking in for the latest sketches and so forth.
My plan is to put together a separate section here on Studio NDR for all my Beyond-related arts. Hoping to get to that later this week, but you know how things are. Anyway, I’ll definitely post here to let you know when it’s up.

Time for this week’s PiQue on Tapastic, in which a younger Sunita (in her retail-workin’ days) has a plan for getting rid of pesky dudes who can’t take a hint.
Okay, so this is something of a retcon. After I came up with the “brand-new” character Sunita, I realized this unnamed woman from an old comic of mine was pretty much identical in personality. The only difference is she’s skinnier. So it’s not that hard to see old-comic Sunita as the younger (think 19-ish) incarnation of current Sunita (who may or may not be pushing 30-ish, who can say?).
Trivia fun time: Archer is essentially a reincarnation of an old D&D character of mine … apparently when I make up a fake person I like to keep ’em around.
In other news, I’m in the midst of crafting a story for Beyond, a queer sci-fi fantasy anthology that’s currently in the works. I’m working away on character designs for my story right now … last night, I sketched out these two ladies. I don’t actually have names for them yet (I have a hard time coming up with names, it turns out),and it’s very likely their outfits will change as I get a better handle on what I want to do about fashion in this world, but for now alls you need to know is LESBIAN SCIENTIST ADVENTURERS. My story will also have non-gendered asexuals, what-if hominids, and other fun stuff, so keep an eye out for further developments.
This is intended as a standalone story for the anthology, though the world and the characters are all featured in my big, epic sci-fantasy book I’ve been writing away on. THAT’S not going to see the light of day for awhile, but it’s been my Big Project Goal for a long time now, so I’m excited to get to work on bits of it for Beyond.

The latest episode of Politically InQueerect is now up on Tapastic. This is originally from The Outfield, in which several PiQue characters had cameos. I’m just pleased this one has come around to being relevant again, what with the Red Sox being the awesomest and the Yankees sucking and all that. Whether the Sox manage to swing a World Series win this year is yet to be determined, but Archer is a bit over-excited nonetheless.
Also, I guess there’s been a certain amount of downtime for Studio NDR lately? I keep getting alert messages to that effect, though it seems to happen overnight for me (which I guess sucks for any Australian readers). I dunno what that’s about. I am honestly just about the world’s worst website administrator, and my eyes lose focus the instant I start to read any technical details of the server thingy thum, so yeah. Sorry. I don’t really have a good solution at this time, owing to the fact that I’m a cartoonist and therefore have no money.
One of the benefits, I guess, of publishing externally on a place like Tapastic … at least somewhere on the internet my cartoons are available!
