Taxonomically Unbound pun webcomic

Taxonomically Unbound pun webcomic

Got two Taxonomically Unbound comics up today, since I apparently didn’t manage to get one posted last week (travel + convention madness are to blame). But they’re up now and you can read them here and here.

They’re also on Tapastic here and here, if that’s your preferred delivery method.

Finally, don’t forget that I’ll be at HavenCon in Austin, TX this weekend! That’s April 4-5 at the Holiday Inn Midtown. Come for queer comics and other LGBTQIA geekery!

Cheers,

Dylan

Taxonomically Unbound pun webcomic

I’ve put together a couple more Taxonomically Unbounds. New one just posted here on Studio NDR. It’s also up on Tapastic and Tumblr, if those are your preferred delivery methods.

I actually have quite a backlog of awful punnery to cartoonify (as you already know if you follow me on Twitter), but my main focus is on Valley of the Silk Sky. Don’t worry, though, I seem to have an entire lobe of my brain devoted to punning, much to the consternation of my friends and family.

Anyhow, Emerald City Comic Con is a mere week away (table F-04, don’t you know). If you’re going to be there, you might perhaps be interested in this event at Gay City Arts the night before, on Thursday March 26th. I’ll be on a queer comics panel, talking about … QUEER COMICS??? Shocking, but there it is.

Cheers,

Dylan

Taxonomically Unbound Devil Fish

The title to this post is hilariously meaningless if you don’t know my wacky shorthand (wackronyms?). Taxo Unbo = Taxonomically Unbound, VoSS = Valley of the Silk Sky.

Anyway, point being, I’ve posted a new Taxonomically Unbound today, and you can read it here on Studio NDR, or here on Tapastic.

Meanwhile, Valley of the Silk Sky is set to start next week! It debuts on Wednesday, January 14 (or on Monday, January 12 for my $1+ Patrons). I made this tiny banner for it, just in case you’re the sort of person who runs a queer webcomic list and wants to add a link:

Valley of the Silk Sky 200x40 banner

As far as overall progress goes, I’m midway through the pencils on page 12, with five pages completely finished, so I’ve got a decent buffer going in. We’ll see if that buffer survives convention season, of course, but I’m gonna try to keep it going uninterrupted.

See you next week with a BRAND NEW COMIC.

Cheers,

Dylan

Politically InQueerect Archer

This week’s PiQue update on Tapastic has a whopping four pages.

This is the first half of the first multi-page story I’d ever written for Todd & Archer, back in 2003. It definitely shows some of the weaknesses of a first attempt, but Todd’s arc still strikes me as amusing.

I have to say, they’re both exceptionally loathsome in this story. I don’t blame you if you’re overcome with an impulse to smack them. They unquestionably deserve it.

You are like a gnat to me

You also get a new-old Taxo Unbo this week, another perennial favorite (or is that perineum favorite?). This andropomorphic comic includes a bonus horrible pun in the title.

Yes, it’s been a lot of reruns recently, but new work is barreling your way. Next week’s PiQue will wrap with the second half of “Typical,” Taxo Unbo will be a new stinker, and then the week after THAT, on January 14, Valley of the Silk Sky will debut.

So! Stick around for new work in this, the new year.

Cheers,

Dylan

Misspent Youth

So yeah, I guess I just flat out spaced on updating here? It’s all reruns anyway; I figured it being the holidays basically no one would be paying attention.

NEVERTHELESS, here’s what I’ve posted on Tapastic and Tumblr since last time: Politically InQueerect: Play Ball! Part 5 of 5, Taxonomically Unbound: The Wilde Adventures of Oscar Wilde, and Taxonomically UnBound: Misspent Youth.

A big part of the cause for my distraction (besides the requisite holiday season madness) has been working on getting Valley of the Silk Sky ready for the January 14 debut. That means finishing pages for the buffer (two done so far, about a third of the way through coloring page 3), and making the website usable.

I installed a new theme on the VoSS site that’s more webcomic-friendly, but that does mean I basically have to redo a bunch of the design. So yeah. DISTRACTIONS. And I want to get a little more content up before the comic actually starts. Will that happen? Why knows? Getting pages done is the main priority.

Anyway, sorry for being a rerun-posting flake, but new stuff is headed your way in just over two weeks!

Cheers,

Dylan

Taxonomically Unbound Snark Shark

In this week’s episode of Taxonomically Unbound, look on in horror as sarcastic marine animals make sarcastic remarks. You can witness the carnage here on Tapastic, or here on Studio NDR.

Oh, hey, and the collection of LGBTQ comics for the Side By Side International Film Festival is now available! While this book is marketed to Russian queer folk, you can help support their efforts at outreach by buying your own copy.

As you probably know, news out of Russia for sexual/gender minorities has been pretty grim lately, so you can help throw some support their way by buying comics. PRETTY GREAT, no?

Taxonomically Unbound breakfast puns

It’s Friday, and that means it’s time for a new Taxonomically Unbound. A Roasted Development is now up on Tapastic and here on Studio NDR.

Also, my very first Patreon payment is en route, so once that clears I will be sending out rewards to folks who have signed up to receive stuffs in the mail. EXCITEMENT.

Also also, we are approximately six weeks away from the debut of my new queer sci-fi webcomic, Valley of the Silk Sky. MORE EXCITEMENT. I’m midway through the pencils for page 8, which feels like a safe enough amount of padding to be confident about a Jan 14 launch.

Meanwhile, I’ve been sick all week, so now I think it is time to curl up into a ball and watch cartoons and feel sorry for myself.

Cough,

Dylan

Politically InQueerect Old Ghosts final cover

It’s pre-orderin’ time! Yes, indeed, the Northwest Press print edition of Politically InQueerect: Old Ghosts is now open for preorder via Diamond Previews. From the NWP blurb:

In this all-new tale, Todd joins Archer and his mother on a journey to England to help Archer’s grandmother move. Gran is adamant that her old house is haunted, Archer is adamant that it isn’t. Will Archer’s skepticism lead to his peril, or is Gran amusing herself with a huge wind-up? Includes a selection of choice PiQue strips from the comic’s 14-year run!

Politically InQueerect: Old Ghosts — 48 pages, $7.99, full color comic book.
Use Diamond item code NOV141558.

As you may know, pre-orders help enormously with a book’s success, so please ask your comics retailer to reserve a copy for you (or, if you ARE a comics retailer, order a bunch now!).

Taxonomically Unbound gnocchi ghost

And, because the excitement doesn’t end, here’s a new Taxonomically Unbound for ya. You can read it here on Tapastic, or here on Studio NDR.

This one is titled Pasta Point of No Return, and involves EXCITING MATH JOKES. Does the internet have enough math joke comics? I submit to you that it does not.

I have more stuff to talk about, but we can save it for later. But rest assured, MORE NEWS IS IMMINENT.

Cheers,

Dylan

LOLCactus

As promised, what with it being Friday and all, I bring you the new Taxonomically Unbound, a repository for bad puns and regrettable jokes. Read it here on Tapastic, or here on Studio NDR.

As far as update schedules go, I’m thinking Mondays will be for my Patreon supporter’s SEKRIT BLODGE, which you can access by donating a mere $2 a month. The cash goes to support my comic making endeavors, including such niceties as paper and ink, and web hosting for this here site.

Wednesdays will be for my story comics like Politically InQueerect and Valley of the Silk Sky, once that starts up (still shooting for a January launch).

Fridays will be for Taxonomically Unbound, at least until such time as I run out of puns to make.*

*This will probably never happen.

Politically InQueerect number 2

Quite a few things to talk about today! First up, I’ve put the original cover for the PiQue #2 minicomic up on Tapastic. When I would take my visibly queer minicomics to shows, I’d always get a few straight dudes who would react as though the comics would turn them gay. This cover was done to taunt those poor chaps.

The story it references may be read in its entirety, starting here.

I also put up a new piece here on Studio NDR, titled Halloween Dance Party. I originally created this for Hallowzine 2014 from Timeghost.xxx.

Now, about that Patreon:

Dylan Edwards Patreon

If you enjoy my comics, please consider becoming a regular supporter. It would mean a whole heckuva lot to me, and you can score some neat things: a special blog with sneak previews and works-in-progress, postcards with doodles scribbled on ’em, original comics art, and who knows? Maybe even some fancy paintings if you’re feeling flush.

Taxonomically Unbound

Finally, I’ve instituted a new comic series, more or less on a whim. It already existed in rudimentary form here, but I’m “rebranding” it, if you will, and also creating new content. The idea is to do quick, humorous comics so that not every page I create takes 20 hours.

Anyway, follow along on Tapastic, or here at Studio NDR, whichever. My current plan is to update on Fridays.

Is that everything? I think so! FOR NOW.

Cheers,

Dylan
